Irv Press, taking the cue from his last name, parlayed his experience to create Press+, a communications firm which focuses on conducting PR and advertising for its clients.

A creative problem solver and dynamic project manager, Irv brings a wealth of consumer and business-to-business marketing communications experience from both sides of the desk.

As principal of Press+, he specializes in marketing communications for high tech and business-to-business companies, providing a marketing perspective to the role rather than the traditional journalistic approach.

Irv has served in marcomm roles for several of New England’s B2B and high tech firms. Before forming Press+, Irv was director of marketing at Bitstream’s Archetype Applications Division, where he managed promotional programs including the redesign of corporate materials, as the company merged two divisions, and the development of marketing partnerships that promoted the company and its products.

As senior manager, marketing communications at Intellution, Inc., a leading developer of industrial automation software, Irv created a repositioning framework designed to redirect the company’s focus on a broader product line to support future market and technology trends.

While Irv was manager of advertising and sales promotion at ECRM, he spearheaded the company’s repositioning as it changed its focus from high-end scanners to high-resolution imagesetters. His efforts helped ECRM boost the new product line’s sales from $10 million to $40 million in just three years.

Irv has also held marketing roles at Delta Computer Corporation and The Gillette Company - in the company’s acquisition group, conducting market research. Irv has even been part owner in a macadamia nut company.

On the agency side, Irv was account executive at Boston-based Robinson Associates, where he managed ad programs for clients like Timberland, BASF Printing Products, Scott Commodity papers, Big Brother Association of Boston, Ski Industries of America, and Dunkin’ Donuts. In addition to providing account service and advertising plans, Irv was a media buyer/planner. He has earned a Clio merit award for copywriting excellence.

As principal of Press+, Irv works with a number of business to business (and some consumer) clients.

Irv earned a BS degree with an emphasis in business from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and received an MBA with a focus on marketing from Boston University.

Irv still wonders what would have happened to his career if his last name was Shortstop.
